v Create a news
article on a given Explorer

The object of this assignment is to explore the
first two lines of inquiry.
o 1) Personal and
Political reasons for exploration
o 2) Methods and
means of exploration

Try to make a connection between your Explorer and
these two lines. If you can do this, you will be on the right track to an
excellent presentation.
v Some driving
questions and thoughts to start your inquiry:

Who were the financial backers, and why? (think
political)
o
Why was the person driven to explore? (think personal)
o
Mode of exploration?
o
Where are they from?
o
What were the instruments used?
o
Year/ years they were exploring?
o
What did they explore/ discover?
v In your
presentation –
o Include a picture
of the explorer.
o Include a map of
where they explored.
o Include a picture
of interest relating to the information gathered.
o Maybe research a
newspaper of today to gain ideas for the layout.
o Maybe you could
present your newspaper in the time of the event.
o Does it have to be
done in the style of print media?
